CodeSwissKnife Bar – Everyday Dev Tools Right in Your Menu Bar

f you’re a developer like me, you probably find yourself repeating small tasks every day encoding a string, checking a timestamp, generating a UUID. I used to open different apps or websites for these things. Now I don’t have to.

That’s why I built CodeSwissKnife Bar a lightweight set of essential developer utilities that lives quietly in your Mac’s menu bar.

Why I built it

I wanted something:

  • Fast, with zero setup
  • Always available, without switching windows
  • Offline, privacy-first no data leaves your Mac

I didn’t want another heavy app. Just a few tools that I personally use all the time, always one click away.

So I created CodeSwissKnife Bar.

CodeSwissKnife Bar — Unix Timestamp

What it does

Version 1.0 includes:

  • ✅ Base64 / URL / HTML encode & decode
  • ✅ UUID Generator (v4 & v7)
  • ✅ HEX ↔ RGB Color Converter
  • ✅ Unix Timestamp → Date converter
  • ✅ Text Base Converter
  • ✅ Daily Scrum Journal (What I did / doing / blockers)
CodeSwissKnife Bar — Daily Scrum

Who it’s for

This app is for developers who want to:

  • Save time
  • Stay focused
  • Avoid context switching

Whether you’re coding full-time or building side projects, this can be your developer sidekick always ready, never in the way.

Privacy-first

  • Your data never leaves your machine.
  • CodeSwissKnife Bar runs 100% offline.
  • There are no trackers or analytics, except for a minimal opt-in telemetry to know which tools are being used the most (strictly local during beta).
